Support
Dopa Toll is made by Alex in Vancouver — one person, no team, no trackers. Here's how to get help, and answers to the questions that come up most.
Need help, found a bug, or want to share feedback? Every message is read by me (Alex, Vancouver). I'm one person, so the reply usually comes back within 24 hours — but it always comes back.
What is Dopa Toll?
Dopa Toll puts a toll on the apps that distract you — so you spend less time on them. Set a daily free window on each; past it, every open costs coins — pay the toll, or walk away.
Coins are earned through focus sessions (Pomodoro) and start at 30/day minimum, so you're never stuck. You see what those minutes are worth in your own time — Dopa just makes the cost visible.
Why does it cost coins to unlock my own apps?
Because friction is the product. Time-based blockers are too easy to disable. Tree-growing apps reward you for something abstract you don't really care about. Dopa pairs every unlock with a number you earned through real focus — so you feel the tradeoff in the moment.
How does it work?
- Pick your most distracting apps in the Tolls tab.
- Set a daily time cap on each (e.g. 30 min for Instagram).
- When you hit the cap, the app locks.
- Unlock with coins — 15c · 5 min 35c · 10 min 60c · 15 min
- Earn coins by completing 25-minute focus sessions.
How do I stop using Dopa Toll?
Go to Settings → Troubleshooting → Delete all my data. Your paid coins (from Coin Store purchases) are preserved. Then uninstall the app. Family Controls permission is revoked automatically when you delete the app.
How do I remove a single guarded app?
Go to the Tolls tab → tap the app → Remove. The button shows Remove · instant if you've never paid coins for that app, or Remove · tomorrow if you have (anti-cheat — same midnight delay as cap changes).
Apps aren't locking after I add them
Check that Family Controls authorization is still granted: Settings → Screen Time → ensure Dopa Toll has permission. Apps lock immediately when added, but the daily cap counter starts at 0 — you get your full free pass before paid mode kicks in.
My coin balance reset or didn't sync
Coin balance is backed up to your own iCloud. Sign in to the same Apple ID on both devices. If iCloud sync is off: Settings → [Your name] → iCloud → iCloud Drive → On. Then open Dopa Toll on both devices.
I bought a coin pack and didn't receive coins
Coin packs are processed by Apple. If Apple charged you but coins didn't arrive, force quit and reopen the app — it re-syncs unfinished purchases on launch and the coins should appear. If they still don't, email hi@dopatoll.app with your Apple receipt and I'll help you track it down — and if it genuinely can't be recovered, get it refunded through Apple.
What's the green banner that flashes after I subscribe or buy coins?
That's your receipt confirmation — You're on Pro. after a successful subscription, or +N coins · $X.XX after a coin pack. The paywall or coin store auto-closes after 1.5–2 seconds.
If you don't see the green banner and the paywall stays open, the purchase didn't go through — try again, or contact me at hi@dopatoll.app.
Managing or canceling Dopa Toll Pro
Dopa Toll Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription — $39.99 USD / year, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. It auto-renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
To manage or cancel:
- Inside Dopa Toll (fastest): Settings → Features card → "View your Pro plan" → Manage subscription.
- From iOS Settings: Settings → [Your name] → Subscriptions → Dopa Toll Pro.
Both routes go to the same Apple-managed sheet.
